YNW Melly accused of trying to pull a ‘Michael Scofield’ in prison

YNW Melly has been charged with conspiring with one of his attorneys to attempt to organize a jailbreak.

The charge was levelled by a Florida Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday at a court proceeding (September 27).

In Broward County, Florida, YNW Melly, real name Jamell Demons, has been imprisoned for three years after being charged with the murders of two of his pals, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams.

On Thursday, September 29, the Broward County Sheriff’s General Counsel’s Office provided a statement to Complex outlining the proof they discovered to support their claim.

“On April 11, 2022, Broward Sheriff’s Office received a confidential tip regarding inmates Nicholas Lewis and Jamell Demons, both housed in the same unit at the Main Jail, planning an escape from jail by having Demons’ attorney bring in two handcuff keys to aid in the escape.

Additional information provided by the source was that Lewis had a shank and drugs,” the statement reads.

Authorities at the jail had searched Lewis’ cell after receiving the tip from another prisoner. A six-inch shank, two razor blades, two lighters, rolling papers, and unprescribed Seroquel and Klonopin pills were found inside.

The officials also inspected Melly’s cell, but all they found were commissary food and “extra jail-issued apparel.”
